In California, Is it illegal to do payroll before the payperiod is over? Guessing the hours worked?

Jun 29th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to do Payroll

I have a friend whose bosses are doing his payroll before the payperiod ends, and just guessing what his hours will be before he’s actually worked them. Can you help me find anything that shows that this isn’t right. Links would help! Thanks!

Would working at a payroll company help me find a job in finance in the future?

Jun 28th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to do Payroll

I do a little accounting and everything else for this payroll company. Will I have a better chance at landing a job compared to working as a teller? Or is being a teller better?

I’m planning on applying for a finance position in May after I receive my degree in finance.

Thanks!

Excessive Underarm Sweating Can be Embarrassing

Jun 25th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Excessive underarm sweating is also known by the medical name Axillary Hyperhidrosis. While everyone sweats, armpit sweating for people who suffer from hyperhidrosis is more than just a nusance. Excessive underarm sweating can cause excessive anxiety. Meditation maintains the body’s hormonal balance and helps you relax which allows your body to cool down and sweat less. Excessive underarm sweating can cause excessive anxiety. Meditation maintains the body ’s hormonal balance and helps you relax which allows your body to cool down and sweat less.

Excessive underarm sweating is caused by the over stimulation of sweat glands by the autonomic nerves. Sweaty armpit also causes emotional stress, social isolation and changes in clothing. Excessive underarm sweating may be seen with hyperhidrosis . There are surgical and non-surgical treatments that may be used stop underarm sweating. Excessive underarm sweating occurs equally among men and women and age has no factor. While there are many factors that cause profuse sweating such as anxiety, tension and hereditary nature, it is pleasing to know that there are more cures and treatment for it then those that cause it.

Excessive underarm sweating is not only an issue on the big screen – it affects women of all walks of life. In fact, nearly one million women in the United States suffer from excessive underarm sweating. Excessive underarm sweating could be a condition that is caused by primary hyperhidrosis although those that have this disease are actually few and far between. Excessive underarm sweating is a problem many of us are struggling with. The problem very often starts in the mid or late teens and continues to control our life for years.

Sufferers are prevented from wearing certain fabrics and colors because the sweat causes staining and rotting of the clothing. The sympathetic nervous system over-stimulates the sweat glands, causing the hyperhidrosis . Suffering is an understatement. I can relate to the stories on the website about people having to wear layers of clothing, having low self-esteem and generally not having the greatest time.

Treatments

Treatment consists of many small injections just under the skin in the affected areas. The botulinum toxin stops the nerves in the skin that control the sweat glands from working. Treatment can take about 30 minutes for the under arms. Topical local anaesthetic cream can be applied 45 minutes before treatment to reduce the pain of the injections. Treatment for PB depends on the level and severity of the condition. Mild cases of PB may be treated with OTC (over the counter) anti-perspirants and deodorants and increased hygienic habits.

Treatment with botulinum toxin A led to a marked improvement in all factors investigated. Treatment includes supportive care and trivalent equine antitoxin, which reduces mortality if administered early. Treatment totally blocks the nerve ending for about 6-12 weeks but then new nerve endings start to form. This means the effects of treatment last for several months but will eventually wear off.

Treatments last for about 20 minutes and take place regularly several times per week. It has been found effective in some patients with light or moderate disease, but some patients complain of the time taken for treatment and/or expense. Treatment of the underarm area will reduce sweating by more than 85% and lasts between 4 and 12 months.

How To Choose A Resume Writing Service

Jun 21st, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Write a Resume
Jason Kay asked:

Having an attention-grabbing resume is one of the most important parts of the job search. Your resume and cover letter are your introduction to a potential employer; and without a strong introduction, you may never get another chance to make a good impression. As a result, the success of your job hunt can hang on how well your resume is written.

Maybe you are entering the work force after graduating from college. Or maybe you just need to find a new job. Regardless of why you are looking for work, a skilled resume writer has the power to help you get your foot in the door.

Why Should I Use a Resume Writer?

Resume writing services are more than just a word processing or proofreading service. A resume writer takes your work experience, education, your strengths and weakness, and ties it all up into one little package. Although people usually think of their resume as a simplistic listing of their education and experience, it is actually more like a sales document. In order for your resume to effectively sell you, it not only has to be well written and visually appealing, but also has to present the goods - you - in the best possible light.

Sound easy? Of course not. Why is it, then, that so many people attempt to write their resumes on their own? You wouldn’t try to write a legal contract when the outcome could impact the rest of your life - you would hire a lawyer. By the same token, you should entrust your resume to a professional resume writer.

What Does a Resume Writer Do?

A resume writer’s goal is to convince potential employers that you are perfect for the job. In order to sell your strengths, a resume writer will:

•Discuss your career focus and gear your resume to your unique goals

•Choose the best format to highlight your strengths

•Write an attention-getting summary or list of objectives

•Use convincing language to maximize your strengths and minimize your weaknesses

•Personalize your resume in a way that shows you off to your best advantage

•Make your resume available in different file formats if needed

•Make changes as necessary

Of course, a resume doesn’t really stand by itself. Your career decisions, where and how you search for jobs, and the quality of your cover letter all impact how your resume is received. In other words, if you are looking for work in the wrong places, or don’t introduce your resume properly in the cover letter, it won’t matter how dazzling your resume is.

Resume writing services often offer a whole package approach to resume writing. To ensure that you land your dream job, your resume writer may offer additional services, such as:

•Career consultation

•Job search consultation

•Cover letter writing

•Resume distribution

•Interview preparation

What Should I Look for in a Resume Writing Service?

A good resume writing service is one that offers you everything necessary to get the attention of potential employers. When shopping for a resume writer, you should look for:

1.Convincing literature on their services. Whether you are browsing a website or looking at an informational pamphlet, pay close attention to how convincing the literature is. If they can’t sell themselves, they likely won’t be able to do a good job of selling you.

2.A good reputation. Don’t forget to Google! If a resume writing service is worth its salt, you should be able to find good reports from happy customers. Even more importantly, if they aren’t any good you are almost certain to find complaints.

3.Experience. Your career is in your resume writer’s hands, so make sure you choose someone with experience. If your career is in a specialized field, you might even want to look for a resume writer who specializes in the field - a writing service that knows the industry will also know what its employers look for in a resume.

4.Education. Submitting a resume with errors is embarrassing enough, but when you’ve paid to have it done right it’s downright tragic. Make sure your resume writer is educated and/or certified, so that you can be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

5.Personal attention. You don’t want someone who is going to simply plug your information into a resume writing program - you could do that yourself. In order for your resume to stand out, it needs a unique touch that can only be achieved if your resume writer has taken the time to discuss it with you.

Of course, when you are shopping for a resume writing service, don’t forget to listen to your gut. You will have to work closely with the writer during the creation of your resume, so it is important to feel comfortable with him or her.

Putting Your Career First

Hiring a resume writer ensures that your resume looks professional and gets attention. Although the expense may seem unnecessary, consider that you have already invested thousands of dollars into your education so that you could simply get to this point. When your entire career is at stake, don’t throw it away over a typo or a passive verb! A resume writing service can help you make your dream job a reality.

I’ve been writing resumes for friends and family for 15 years. Everyone says I am very talented and should do this for a living. So I created a really nice website, got set up for credit card payments, etc. But I need to know the best way to reach my customers. Three main ideas pop into my head, but I’d like to know, if YOU were looking for a resume writer, where would you look first?

AND, how much are you willing to pay for the resume?
