How to Treat Excessive Sweating

Night Sweats and Medications

Oct 24th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Night sweats from medications is more common than one would think. This article will list medications that cause sweating. In order for us to understand where the sweating is coming from, we should understand that medications cause night sweats as well as diseases and other natural changes. There are several different reasons for the sweating as related to drugs but we will not deeply analyze that issue.

Many medications can not be removed from our daily requirements and often times we can’t add any other drugs to get relief. Take for example women that are dealing with ****** cancer and have to deal with menopause at the same time. There are very few options for women when it comes to taking night sweat prevention medicines. The options that are available can increase the chances of cancer reoccurring. There is hardly anything that they can do internally to find relief from night sweats; they must look for other options.

With some medications confusion in the natural cooling system of our body will occur. Our temperature regulation system is unable to stabilize our body and keep it a constant temperature. At times we are just fine and then other times we are getting hot for unknown reasons thus developing night sweats. The fluctuation makes the sleeping environment unstable and difficult to maintain healthy sleep.

Located below you will see several medications listed that will cause night sweats. Each drug can cause night sweats or extreme sweating. Some of these medications list fever as a symptom, some come right out and say night sweats. All of these are doing the same thing; they are making people sweat at night.

There are ways to relieve yourself of night sweats, if you can keep your body cool during the night you will be able to stop sweating and start sleeping comfortably. The objective is to keep your body cooler when it needs the cooling boost. In order to do this you must either cool your room, sleep with less covering and a fan, or use a fan designed specifically for cooling your body while sleeping.

A special fan that can generate a light breeze between your sheets will be more effective than lowering your thermostat by six to eight degrees. A system like this will generate a light breeze that will travel between your sheets along your body and push the hot air out of your bed. It will also eliminate the heat that has been building-up within your bed and keep you body cool.

This type of cooling system will also benefit you in the following ways.

1) Lower air conditioning bills.

2) Rapid reaction time, with the fan speed controller right under your pillow

3) Can be directed at a single user

4) Cools your body and your bed

The extra body heat that you generate during the night, will be quickly moved out from between your sheets. This simple breeze will keep your body from ever reaching the point at which you start to sweat. This is the most effective method of dealing with night sweats when you look at it from a thermal dynamics point of view.

Sweating at night can be controlled once you understand the mechanics of sweating. It is also imperative that you know the origin of the problem. If you are sweating due to a medical condition, a medication, a natural change, or if you are just a hot sleeper, you should know why you are sweating. Once you understand why you are sweating then you will be able to make the necessary changes needed to start sleeping and stop sweating.

The following is a short list of medications that are known to cause night sweats.

Accupril

Accutane

Altace

Ambien

Amnesteem

Anzemet

Arava

Aricept

Aromasin

Avinza

Bextra

Excessive Sweating Underarms

Oct 15th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating of the under arms is never a pleasant experience. When we are in the company of an individual who endures such a condition, people around him/her are able to realize the matter in a short span of time. This is simply because excessive sweating of under arms is almost always accompanied by a strong ad unpleasant odor that is described as obnoxious and viewed with resentment.

Hyperhidrosis is a medical term and me not be a common entrant in our vocabulary. However if you are being treated for excessive sweating under arms or extreme underarm perspiration, your medical practioner will refer to it as Hyperhydrosis. Sweat is a gland secretion and occurs in animals and humans. In our body we have particular sweat glands that produce sweat. Apart from excessive sweating under arms, people could be prone to excess sweating of other body parts. This includes the face, hands and feet. This however, does not pose as large a challenge as disproportionate underarm sweating does.

Hyperhidrosis is amongst the most extensive sweating problems one could be facing. If you are dealing with excessive sweating under arms, it is important that you understand the root cause of the problem. This is vital, especially if you are contemplating self treatment. This is because, in most cases, the problem is continuous and progressive. Hence self help may not be adequate to treat excessive sweating under arms and its time you seek professional guidance that can help resolve and control your excessive sweating under arms woes.

Sweat glands that cause sweat emission are known as Sudoriferous. The two known sweat glands that produce sweat are known as eccrine and apocrine. The Eccrine glands are present in almost all parts of the body. In ordinary conditions, they produce a watery emission in imprecise levels. However, in all totality they are not responsible for uncontrollable and excessive sweating under arms. Typically, eccrine glands produce sweat that is odorless. As compared to this, Apocrine glands are bigger and can be found only in specific areas of the human body, such as the armpits and ******* skin. Sweat produced by these glands usually travels to the hair shaft around these parts and is transmitted on the hair follicles. In this situation, the hair follicles in fact help conserve the sweat for longer time periods. Subsequently one has to deal with excessive sweating under arms as the sweat is essentially trapped in such regions.

If you are amongst those who are facing Hyperhydrosis, do not lose heart. This is a common phenomenon and occurs in scores of people. What’s better is that it can be easily treated. You could argue that most humans experience more sweat excretion in their underarms as compared to many other body parts and this shouldn’t call for alarm bells. However detection of excessive sweating under arms can be accomplished if you monitor the intensity of the excess sweat, frequency and odor emission.

When dealing with excessive sweating under arms, you could resort to wearing loose clothes, using antiperspirants, and of increasing water intake. Wearing the right clothes allows your skin to breathe. Our skin comprises of tiny pores, and wearing incorrect clothing over your armpit region, causes sweat production to

Increase because of unnatural air circulation. Drinking large quantities of water acts helps cleanse the body and in return helps rid excessive sweating under arms odor.

In case you are dealing with acute or advanced stages of excessive sweating of under arms, then professional help can help resolve matters. Tests for sweating imbalances will help your practitioner diagnose correctly and you would be put on prescription drugs for a period of time. This helps control or limit excessive sweating under arms. Your physician will also try and determine if your problem is genetic, psychological, circumstantial or a result of nervous system action.

Type of Sweat and Body Odor

Sep 29th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Many of us are troubled with body odor. Those of us who have body odor detest it and try various methods to fight that. The first thing all of us do is - use deodorants. Do deodorants remove body odor? No, they only mask it and as the deodorant evaporates the body odor becomes prominent again. The need is to fight the odor itself rather than mask it. How to do that? To find out, let us know more about sweat that causes body odor.

Sweat is the body’s natural defense to maintain body temperature. By sweating, the body cools itself of the heat that may get generated because of outside temperature, physical work, and emotional stress. Some diseases can also cause sweating. For that, you should consult your doctor.

Have you noticed the places on your body from where you get maximum body odor? They are armpits and ******* areas. Why? Because they produce sweat of a different kind compared to sweat produced by other body parts. Do types of sweat glands.

Our body has two types of sweat glands- Eccrine sweat glands and Apocrine sweat glands.Eccrine glands are distributed all over the body. Apocrine sweat glands are located on the scalp, armpits and the ******* area. Eccrine sweat contains water, and very small amounts of salt, urea, sugar and ammonia. Apocrine glands produce sweat that contains fatty matter. The body odor is mainly caused by Apocrine sweat. That is why you get more body smell in your armpits and ******* area but not on your hands or legs.

Sweat is generally odorless. Most of the times, it is the bacterial disintegration of sweat of both the types that produces odor. It is the Apocrine sweat that causes more of body odor. To stop body odor, the need is to remove sweat as it accumulates on the skin and to reduce bacteria that thrives on the sweat and produces odor. Use of a good anti bacterial soap can reduce bacteria to a substantial extent. Those who are more troubled by this problem of body odor also use antiperspirants. As antiperspirants reduce the amount of sweat considerably, the problem of body odor is taken care of.

To conclude- Use an antiperspirant if you sweat excessively. Use anti bacterial soap to kill the odor-producing bacteria. Do not wear the clothes after drying them of sweat. That stale sweat will cause lot of odor. Use clothes after washing them again.

Think Out of the Box Remedies to Stop Armpit Sweating

Sep 5th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
The phenomenon of armpit sweating is experienced by all human beings. However, the distinction between those experiencing normal armpit sweating and the disease of armpit sweating, which is also known as axillary hyperhidrosis is the causes of sweating and the extent of sweating. A person suffering from this disorder will find sweat dripping off his armpits. Rivulets will flow down and the sweat never seems to stop. Irrespective of whether the person is undertaking any strenuous activity or not, he or she will be unable to stop armpit sweating.

Excessive armpit swelling can lead to many embarrassing consequences. These include social, physical, mental as well as other consequence.

Person who are unable to stop armpit sweating end up becoming conscious of their condition. They live their whole life from the perspective of whether it would worsen the sweating or not.

The interaction of those suffering from this problem with others comes to a halt. Our society places a high premium on personal hygiene. A person who is stinking will be ridiculed and isolated. Sadly, we do not bother to determine whether the condition is due to a disorder or due to the negligence of the person. People who suffer from excessive armpit sweating avoid meeting people and tend to be withdrawn.

Such persons put in a lot of effort to hide their condition. Rather than discussing it with their friends and family and sharing their trauma, they tend to withdraw and become moody and even depressive.

The mental stress that the person faces contributes to the intensity of the problem. The person fears sudden sweating attacks so much that the very fear and stress leads to attacks.

The problem of body odor becomes a very serious one. The odor of sweat caused by axillary hyperhidrosis cannot be masked by ordinary deodorants. Further, this problem may occur in combination with other sweating disorders. The person may have to cope with not only sweating armpits but sweating faces, thighs and palms as well.

Armpits are enclosed spaces and excessive sweating may lead to irritation of the skin and even skin rashes. This disorder does not lead to mere social problems. Failure to stop armpit sweating leads to actual health problems.

To keep armpit sweating under control, it is very important to face the problem as early as possible. Longer the problem remains unsolved, more the mental trauma and distress that the person would face.

Do not treat the problem of armpit sweating as a cosmetic or personal hygiene problem. It is a problem caused by the malfunctioning of the sweat glands and the nervous system of the person. The sufferer deserves sympathy and medial treatment. Since the actual causes of the disorder remain shrouded in mystery and a combination of hereditary, genetic, hormonal and other factors is considered to be the cause of this problem, one should not restrict oneself to conventional remedies only.

Treatment Alternatives for Excessive Sweating

Sep 4th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating may be controlled with strong anti-perspirants, which plug the sweat ducts. Anticholinergics drugs, such as glycopyrrolate (Robinul, Robinul-Forte), help to prevent the stimulation of sweat glands.

Treatment include iontophoresis. Sweating may be reduced after six to 10 sessions. After that, the person may need treatment once every one to four weeks. This FDA-approved procedure uses electricity to temporarily turn off the sweat gland. It is most effective for sweating of the hands and feet. The hands or feet are placed into water, and then a gentle current of electricity is passed through it. The electricity is gradually increased until the patient feels a light tingling sensation. The therapy lasts about 10-20 minutes and requires several sessions. Side effects include skin cracking and blisters, although rare.

Treatment by Botox is also one solution. Swelling goes away in a few weeks. The effect of a single injection can last up to a few months. Some patients need additional injections. Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) was approved by the FDA in 2004 for the treatment of severe underarm sweating, a condition called primary axillary hyperhidrosis. Small doses of purified botulinum toxin injected into the underarm temporarily block the nerves that stimulate sweating. Side effects include injection-site pain and flu-like symptoms. If you are considering Botox for other areas of excessive sweating talk to your doctor in detail. Botox used for sweating of the palms can cause mild, but temporary weakness and intense pain.

Use of Aluminum Chloride for treatement of excessive sweating. Initially a patient may need to use it three to seven times a week. After sweating becomes normal, the person may need to use it only once every one to three weeks. If skin irritation is a problem, a doctor may temporarily prescribe 1% hydrocortisone cream.

Stop Sweating - Is There an Effective Method to Stop This Natural Process

Aug 26th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Sweating is a normal and natural phenomenon that helps the body regulate temperature and bring it down to normal limits. But, some people suffer from excessive sweating although it is a normal phenomenon in them too. With excessive sweating increases the chances of body odor that can be potentially embarrassing. So, if a person sweats severely, he/ she are more likely to feel embarrassed, shy and may suffer from a lack of self confidence and esteem. They are also more likely to feel very self conscious about themselves and this might in effect cause a reduction in the actual level of productivity of the person when they are undertaking any job.

So, is there a way to stop excessive sweating? While people adopt various ways to stop sweating including some methods like using many different types of antiperspirants regularly through the day, using more than one undershirt during the day, avoiding close contact of the hands to the sides to stop underarm sweating, holding their arms close to the vent of an air conditioner, etc many of these methods fail to provide the desired benefit of stopping sweating permanently.

So, what is the solution and how to stop excessive sweating? One good alternative is to try out the suggestions that have been outlined in an ebook by name Stop Sweating and Start Living written by Mike Ramsey who himself was earlier suffering from excessive sweating.

The ebook concentrates on various aspects that promote sweating and how it can be managed to stop sweating. It concentrates on the way exercises and food play a role in the sweating process and how by undertaking some kind of exercises or making alterations to the diet one can stop excessive sweating.

The suggestions provided in the ebook to stop sweating does not necessitate the use of any kind of antiperspirants available on the market nor does it promote any products like creams or lotions. It also does not suggest you to go in for any kind of treatments or surgical procedures to get correction to your problem. There are no medications to take nor does it advocate any kind of electrical therapy.

To stop sweating, the ebook suggest you to use some easily available and economical items that you usually have at home into a short 30 second routine that needs to be followed two times a day, once in the morning and once in the evening regularly following which the problem of excessive sweating just disappears.

The ebook Stop Sweating and Start living comes to you at a price of $44.95 and is supported by an unconditional total money back guarantee for a 8 week period. Excessive Underarm Sweating Can be Embarrassing

Jun 25th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Excessive underarm sweating is also known by the medical name Axillary Hyperhidrosis. While everyone sweats, armpit sweating for people who suffer from hyperhidrosis is more than just a nusance. Excessive underarm sweating can cause excessive anxiety. Meditation maintains the body’s hormonal balance and helps you relax which allows your body to cool down and sweat less. Excessive underarm sweating can cause excessive anxiety. Meditation maintains the body ’s hormonal balance and helps you relax which allows your body to cool down and sweat less.

Excessive underarm sweating is caused by the over stimulation of sweat glands by the autonomic nerves. Sweaty armpit also causes emotional stress, social isolation and changes in clothing. Excessive underarm sweating may be seen with hyperhidrosis . There are surgical and non-surgical treatments that may be used stop underarm sweating. Excessive underarm sweating occurs equally among men and women and age has no factor. While there are many factors that cause profuse sweating such as anxiety, tension and hereditary nature, it is pleasing to know that there are more cures and treatment for it then those that cause it.

Excessive underarm sweating is not only an issue on the big screen – it affects women of all walks of life. In fact, nearly one million women in the United States suffer from excessive underarm sweating. Excessive underarm sweating could be a condition that is caused by primary hyperhidrosis although those that have this disease are actually few and far between. Excessive underarm sweating is a problem many of us are struggling with. The problem very often starts in the mid or late teens and continues to control our life for years.

Sufferers are prevented from wearing certain fabrics and colors because the sweat causes staining and rotting of the clothing. The sympathetic nervous system over-stimulates the sweat glands, causing the hyperhidrosis . Suffering is an understatement. I can relate to the stories on the website about people having to wear layers of clothing, having low self-esteem and generally not having the greatest time.

Treatments

Treatment consists of many small injections just under the skin in the affected areas. The botulinum toxin stops the nerves in the skin that control the sweat glands from working. Treatment can take about 30 minutes for the under arms. Topical local anaesthetic cream can be applied 45 minutes before treatment to reduce the pain of the injections. Treatment for PB depends on the level and severity of the condition. Mild cases of PB may be treated with OTC (over the counter) anti-perspirants and deodorants and increased hygienic habits.

Treatment with botulinum toxin A led to a marked improvement in all factors investigated. Treatment includes supportive care and trivalent equine antitoxin, which reduces mortality if administered early. Treatment totally blocks the nerve ending for about 6-12 weeks but then new nerve endings start to form. This means the effects of treatment last for several months but will eventually wear off.

Treatments last for about 20 minutes and take place regularly several times per week. It has been found effective in some patients with light or moderate disease, but some patients complain of the time taken for treatment and/or expense. Treatment of the underarm area will reduce sweating by more than 85% and lasts between 4 and 12 months.

Over active sweat glands often lead to hyperhidrosis. Excess sweating can sometimes affect the entire body but it usually occurs in the hands, feet, armpits and the groin area. Excessive perspiration occurs to all during anxiety and fever. But when it persists it signals disorder of sweat glands, thyroid problems and a nervous system disorder. Curesweatypalms offers many cures and treatments, which are mentioned below in detail. Though one procedure, which is the drysol method to cure hyperhidrosis, has some side effects but not all are sensitive to it. The botox treatment is also available.

These thyroid gland discharges thyroid hormones, which are iodine containing compounds and it, affect the body temperature and can also lead to hyperhidrosis. There is a thoracic surgery procedure mentioned at curesweatypalms, which is an ideal solution. Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland excretes excess of thyroid hormones and thus leads to hormonal imbalances, overactive thyroid gland, which increases body metabolism and heat production thus leading to hyperhidrosis, and it even causes over activity of the sympathetic nervous system. Excessive perspiration is caused by high metabolism rate and thyroid gland is very much responsible for it. This excessive sweating problem can be cured by thoracic surgery procedure.

Drysol is another name for aluminum chloride hexahydrate and is a cure for excessive perspiration. This is considered to be a good excessive perspiration treatment. But the drysol side effects normally stop us from using them that frequently to avoid excess sweating. Drysol can lead to skin irritation, rashes, and itching. This irritation usually ends when excessive perspiration treatment with drysol is stopped and it should be kept in mind that drysol can stain certain fabrics and metals when being used as excessive perspiration treatment. Excessive sweating causes lots of problems for which a solution has to be found out. Curesweatypalms has many other solutions but drysol is a good option providing the patient is comfortable with the drysol side effects.

What is Excessive Sweating or Hyperhidrosis?

Apr 25th, 2009 | By How To Do Anything | Category: How to Treat Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating is a problem that is quite common, especially in the case of soles, armpits or palms. It’s very annoying and it can influence your life in a negative way. For example, something that sweats a lot might avoid contact with other people, because he might get embarrassed. The good news is that it can be treated.

What exactly is excessive sweating?

Usually, by sweating you keep the temperature of your body at a normal level when the weather is hot, when you exercise or when you have a fever. Excessive sweating however is not normal and happens even when you’re not exercising, anxious or hot.

There are two types of excessive sweating, either generalized or focal. Since there are different treatments for them, you first need to find out which one you have.

Excessive sweating that is focal

Focal excessive sweating means that it takes place in one or more places: soles of the feet, palms of the hands, scalp/face, armpits.

The rest of the body will sweat like it should be, but those areas that I mentioned will sweat much more. Nobody knows what the exact cause of the focal sweating is, since it’s not accompanied by other problems. The problem seems to be caused by overactive glands. In some cases it will be something that is inherited in the same family, so genetics might have something to do with it. Around 3% of all people are affected by this problem.

It can be of different degrees of severity, and it will not affect you all the time. Some things will trigger the problem, such as spicy foods, emotion, heat and anxiety. If you’re anxious about sweating, this can trigger it as well. In most cases though, you will have no idea what triggers it. It’s usually a condition that takes a lot of time to improve.

There is no need to take tests if you have focal sweating. If you use an antiperspirant and it doesn’t do its job, you can talk with the doctor to give you a treatment.

Excessive sweating that is generalized

Generalized sweat means that your entire body is affected, not just a few areas. It’s not as common as the focal one is. In most cases generalized sweating is caused by a medical problem. There are quite a few conditions that can cause sweating: heart problems, drug side effects, anxiety disorders, spinal cord nerve damage, infections, hormone problems, some cancers, and so on. If you suffer from generalized excessive sweating, you should talk to a doctor, to see what’s the problem that is causing it.

Focal excess sweating and some complications that can appear

Even though it’s not a serious problem, excessive sweating can be embarrassing and distressing. A good example is shaking hands with someone when you have sweaty hands, or working with documents and getting them wet. If you’re sweating under your armpit, you will feel bad about the wet patches under the arm and maybe even change clothes more often.

There are some complications that are not as common, like the skin becoming irritated, sore and infection prone. You can even get eczemas.
